Distinguishing Features: Seed wings have wide angle, mature in the fall and stay on the tree late

- Form at maturity: 40 to 60 feet tall, rounded crown and densely branched, often wider than tall
- Leaf: Opposite, 5-lobed leaves, 4 to 7 inches across, milky sap when stem is broken

- Bark: Greyish-black with shallow ridges and furrows
- Fruit or Seed: Samaras, 1.5 to 2 inches long, turn green to tan when mature
