Distinguishing Features: Clusters of white flowers, then red berries
- Type: Deciduous
- Form at maturity: Typically 20 to 40 feet tall, ovate to rounded shape
- Leaf: Pinnately compound, 5 to 9 inches long with 9 to 15 leaflets, each .75 to 2.5 inches long with a pointed oval shape and serrated toward the tips, dark green above, frosty green below, leaves change from green to somewhat reddish in Autumn
- Flower: White, 5-petaled flowers (1/3 inch across) bloom in flattened corymbs
- Bark: Color is light grayish brown, generally smooth, but somewhat roughened on older trunks
- Fruit or Seed: Clusters of small orange-red berry-like drupes, 0.25 to 0.38 inch in diameter, born in terminal clusters
