Distinguishing Features: White pea-like flowers in long clusters, flattened seed pods that turn brown before leaves, alternate compound leaves
- Type: Deciduous
- Form at maturity: Develops a broad, rounded crown, branches are upright and spreading,with ashort main trunk.
- Leaf: Alternate, pinnately compound leaves, 7 to 9 leaflets per leaf, leaves 8 to 12 inches long, leaflets are 2 to 3 inches long, leaflets are elliptic to ovate, terminal leaflet is the largest, leaf color is bright green, almost with a tinge of blue
- Flower: Wisteria-like, white flowers in large, drooping, terminal panicles (10-15 inches long)
- Bark: Smooth, light gray
- Fruit or Seed: A flattened green pod turn brown in October, 2.5 to 4 inches long
