Distinguishing Features: Sheading cinnamon-brown bark, buds ar sharp and dark purplish-brown
- Type: Deciduous
- Form at maturity: Up to 30 feet tall, can be oval, upright or irregular
- Leaf: Three-lobed leaves are dark green, but turn red in the fall.
- Flower: Inconspicuous
- Bark: Exfoliating cinnamon-brown bark, peels in thin sheets and also polished smooth in places
- Fruit or Seed: Samaras, 1.5 inches to 2 inches long, pubescent nutlet
