Distinguishing Features: Leathery leaves with wavy edges, long leaf stems, fruit covered in brownish-red dots
- Type: Deciduous
- Form at maturity: 30 to 40 feet tall, tear-drop shaped in youth and spreading out with age
- Leaf: Alternate, simple, ovate leaves with crenate margins, 2 to 3 inches long, leaves are held on a long petiole, almost 2 inches, glossy, dark green leaf color. In Autumn leaves are present in reds, purples, and oranges
- Flower: Five-petaled, creamy white flowers (each to 3/4 inch wide) in dense corymbs
- Bark: Light brown to gray, Develops horizontal lenticels with age
- Fruit or Seed: Round pome fruit, about 0.5 inch in diameter, fruit is covered in russet dots, olive-brown to tan color
